THANKSGIVING PLACEMATS:

It’s time for Thanksgiving Dinner and this year it’s at your home. With so many things to fuss over: the menu, the centerpiece, the drinks and the seating to name a few, one thing may be overlooked: the placemats. Placemats can save your tablecloth and make cleanup easier. But why rush out and buy new cloth placemats when you can make your own inexpensive and creative placemats?
SUPPLIES NEEDED:
Autumn Leaves
Waxed Paper
Iron
Ironing Board

1. While out for your daily nature walk through your neighborhood or local park, you and your family can pick up nice and colorful Autumn leaves.

2. Tear off two equal pieces of wax paper (both the size of the placemats you wish to put out).

3. Lay one piece of wax paper flat on an ironing board.

4. Arrange the different leaves on the wax paper in a nice pattern.

5. Place the second piece of wax paper over the leaf arrangement, lining up the edges of the two pieces of wax paper as best as you can.

6. Lightly iron the wax paper. This will seal it with the wax paper underneath, creating your first placemat with the leaves sealed between the two sheets.

7. You can trim the edges for a cleaner look once the wax papers have fused together.

* For Spring Placemats, Pick a few flowers and press their petals between the waxed paper. Just follow the instructions above replacing the leaves with flower petals.
