Jar Lid Picture Ornaments
These picture ornaments are so easy to make that you will want to give them to everyone you know. Grandparents love to receive them as presents and they make great projects for Sunday School or their classrooms.
SUPPLIES NEEDED:
Transparent paper, Canning jar lids (with the center out of them), Scissors (Mat and cutting knife works best with round templates), Pictures, Poster board, Two-sided tape (acid free), Scotch tape (acid free),
Acid free craft glue, Craft paint (acid free), Ribbon, Yarn, strips of material (all optional)
GET STARTED:
1. Cover your jar lid. Using yarn, ribbon, material or paint, cover your jar lid leaving the hole uncovered. The ribbon, yarn and strips of material can be wrapped and glued into place. Be sure to tie a piece of ribbon or yarn around the top of the lid leaving extra for you to make a loop for hanging on the tree.
2. Measure your canning jar lid, this is best done by putting it on your transparent paper and tracing around it.
3. Cut your transparent paper to fit snugly inside the jar lid.
4. Using the transparent circle you just cut, trace and cut out your picture and a piece of cardboard.
5. Using your two-sided tape, tape the center of the picture (back side) to the card board.
6. If you want to, you can spread a thin layer of craft glue around the inside of you jar. Be careful not to get any glue on the picture.
7. Gently press your transparent paper into the frame. Set aside to dry.
8. Once dry, press the picture and cardboard into place (picture facing the transparent paper). With two to four small pieces of Scotch tape, tape the sides and if you want, the top and bottom of the card board into place.
VARIATION:
Make a two sided picture ornament by taping a picture to both sides of the cardboard. Press a second transparent paper over the second picture and tape the transparent paper to the jar lid.
