Homemade Gel Air Fresheners
Do you love to citrus scents throughout your kitchen? Maybe you like a floral scent to fill the air of your bathrooms? A calming lavender for the bedroom? If you are like me, you try to save money where you can and sometimes it means cutting down on air fresheners. With this homemade gel air freshener, you don’t have to give up the scents you love.
This homemade gel air freshener is easy to make and fun to create your own scents. So lets get started!
Things You Need:
2 cups of Distilled Water
Essential Oil
4 Packages of Knox Gelatin
2 Tablespoons of Salt
Food Coloring (optional)
Step 1
Bring one cup of distilled water to almost a boil. Stir in the Knox unflavored gelatin until completely dissolved.
Step 2
Remove from heat and add a cool cup of distilled water. Add 10 to 20 drops of your favorite essential oil, salt and a few drops of food coloring if desired (the more drops the darker the color). The salt prevents mold growth.
Step 3
Pour the liquid into clean glass jars (ceramic jars will also work). Leave the jars out at room temperature (jars need to be level) overnight. Once the liquid sets, place lids on the jars.
Step 4
These make great gifts. Tie a ribbon around the jar and place a pretty label on it.
VARIATION:
Concentrated liquid potpourri can be substituted in place of the water and essential oil. Follow the directions above with this substitution.
Canning jars with two part lids work great for these Homemade Gel Air Fresheners. Replace the solid lid with a netting when ready to use.
This saves money from having to buy air fresheners.
