Easy Potpourri Pillows
These easy to make potpourri pillows make great gifts or are perfect for any dresser to freshen up linen. The whole family will have fun making these inexpensive pillows using recycled material.SUPPLIES NEEDED:
Six inch square pieces of pretty fabric (Can use scraps of left over material)
Needle and Thread
Polyester Filling for Stuffing
Handfuls of the Following: juniper, pine needles, rose petals, fresh herbs or chrysanthemums
DIRECTIONS:
* If you use fresh flowers or herbs, you will need to start this project two weeks before you need them.
1. Place the flowers flat on newspapers and hang herbs to dry in a cool dark place for about two weeks (you can also buy prepared potpourri and/or dry herbs).
2. Cut your 6 inch squares from your scraps of material.
3. Put the “right side” out of the fabric pieces together and sew three sides closed, leaving a one half inch hem.
4. Turn the pillow right side out.
5. Cut out a five-inch square from the polyester stuffing and stuff it into the the pocket for your flowers and herbs.
6. Once you have stuffed the pillow and filled it with your chosen scent, fold the unfinished fabric edges under toward the pillow and sew them closed.
7. As a finishing touch, sew on a few bits of ribbon, a button, lace or yarn as decorations.
