Baby Food Jar Snow Globes
These snow globes look great on windowsills and are quick and easy to make. Give them as party favors or make them in your classroom as gifts. They are great for any occasion.
SUPPLIES NEEDED:
Baby food jar or any jar
Water
Water resistant glue or hot glue gun
Glue sticks if using glue gun
Ribbon
Glitter (what ever color appropriate for your project)
Small figurines
This project can be done using any size jar. If you have a shelf you will displaying several on, different sizes would look great. Use water proof glue ( water resistant glue can be found in the plumbing department) . A hot glue gun can be used but you need to make sure to apply enough to make a good seal or water could seep out.
DIRECTIONS:
1. Start by applying a thick layer of glue on the inside of the jar lid. For clear glue, sprinkle white glitter on top of it before the glue dries to make the snow on the ground.
2. Place your figures where you want them in the glue at this time. Be sure to press the figures into the glue firmly before it dries.
3. After the glue is completely dry, fill the jar with water and about a handful of white glitter (enough to make the snow effect when shaken).
4. Twist the lid on tight and seal the outer part of the lid with glue.
5. Tie ribbon around the lid, covering any of the glue.
6. Turn the jar over, and you have a cute little snow globe.
* VARIATIONS:
1. A Valentine globe can be achieved by using red glitter or heart-shaped foil confettiĀ and Valentine figures.
2. A New Year’s globe could have silver confetti and a foil party hat.
3. Easter could be a cross, Easter eggs, a rabbit or flowers with multi-colored foil confetti.
4. For a birthday party favor, you can use the theme of the party.
* Keep your mind open. The possibilities are endless! *
